JUSTIN LASTER: 2024 WRITE-IN CANDIDATE FOR U.S. CONGRESS GEORGIA 8TH DISTRICT EARLY VOTING OCT. 15 - NOV. 1, 2024
Wages, Choice, Rights, Justice
Hello my name is Justin Laster and I am the Registered WRITE-IN CANDIDATE running for U.S Congress in Georgia's 8th Congressional District in NOVEMBER 5, 2024 GENERAL ELECTION against James Austin Scott, the current Republican incumbent U.S. House Representative for the State of Georgia to change Georgia's direction of failure to a direction of success in the 8th Congressional District. I am running as the Democratic Candidate which is looking to make Georgia 8th Congressional District a better district for Georgians to live, thrive and be successful. I have owned my own business in 2009 briefly which was called JL Snack Shop and JL Restaurant. I am in my late 30s and I have worked for the state of Georgia twice once in 2007 as a Juvenile Correctional Officer for the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice and the second time in 2018 as a Correctional Officer for the Georgia Department of Corrections. I have been fighting for fairness and equality in the state of Georgia for 13 years in the state of Georgia courts with no avail and no results because of corruption in the state of Georgia Court system and state of Georgia government under the current Governor Brian Kemp. I want a $12 minimum wage increase for all Georgians that currently make under $12 per hour in the state of Georgia. The current minimum wage in the state of Georgia is $7.25 a slavery wage. $13,920 a year and $8,352 a year is poverty income for any Georgian that makes this a year and we need to pay Georgians livable wages that can pay for cost of living increases which have been rising for 40 years without wage increases to match. I am fighting to change and improve the criminal justice system and court system in the state of Georgia, equal treatment and fairness among African American Georgians, Latino American Georgians, and Asian American Georgians, equal opportunity for promotions, against discrimination, equal and fair healthcare system that is not "money centered" but quality insured, higher wages for Georgians can provide for their families and enjoy their lives for their hard work, more high paying careers and jobs, affordable clean energy vehicles that are cost efficient to run and power to not have to keep paying high gas and oil prices, deal with inflation of goods and services like groceries, clothes, etc., and remove all voting barriers for African American Georgians, Latino American Georgians, and Asian American Georgians so you will not have to be subjected to fake voter fraud laws of which there is no voter fraud racist voting laws to discourage and keep African American, Latino American, and Asian American Georgians from voting out of office and their hold on power racist Georgia state politicians. I am not a politician I am a regular Georgian that have lived in Georgia all my life and I have paid close attention to what my state needs right now to be the best Georgia it can be, the best state to do business, the best state with the best employees, and the best state to treat its citizens fair and just regardless of race and ethnicity. I am asking for your vote and support of my candidacy to change our state of Georgia for the better for all Georgians in the 8th Congressional District. Donate and join our movement and journey today. Any amount is appreciated. Thank you and I look forward to meeting you and speaking with you about these important issues facing each Georgian in the 8th Congressional District.
CAMPAIGN ISSUES
CRIME & JUSTICE
James Austin Scott Has No Plan To Combat & Reduce Crime
Crime is up in the 8th Congressional District under U.S. House Representative incumbent James Austin Scott and we need real change to make neighborhoods safer and protect the 8th Congressional District. I have a concrete plan to reduce and combat crime in the 8th Congressional District and I look forward to working with the residents of the 8th Congressional District to enact my plan for safer neighborhoods and safer communities. I want to create a fair and equal justice system and criminal system that treats African American citizens and suspects suspected of committing a crime fair and equal as white Caucasian American citizens innocent until proven guilty. I want to tear down the law enforcement apparatus that currently exists because it was built on a racist foundation that have been used to target African American citizens, Latino American citizens, and Asian American citizens to control them and deny them fair equality in the justice and criminal system. I want to build a new law enforcement apparatus that treats African American citizens, Latino American citizens, and Asian American citizens fair and equal to white Caucasian American citizens. I want to fund law enforcement not defund law enforcement, but not in its current form because of its racist structure and creation. I want a fair and equal law enforcement apparatus that do not murder, kill, harrass, and intimidate African American citizens, Latino American citizens, and Asian American citizens just because of the color of their skin which they have no control over. I want to investigate and prosecute corrupt law enforcement officers and judges that violate their oath of office, violate Georgians citizens rights, violate Georgia State Law, the Georgia Constitution, United States Federal Law and put at risk Georgians confidence in the justice and criminal system.
$12 MINIMUM WAGE
Key Policy
I want a $12 minimum wage increase for every low wage and middle class Georgian in the 8th District. The State of Georgia has not increased and raised the state's minimum wage which is $5.15 per hour below the federal minimum wage since 2009 when the federal government made the State of Georgia and the businesses that operate in the State of Georgia raise their minimum wage they pay their employees to $7.25 per hour $13,920 a year for 8 hours a day 5 days a week 4 weeks a month for full time employees, $8,352 a year for 6 hours a day 4 days a week for part time employees. A low income family and a middle class family cannot live making $7.25 per hour either working part time 6 hours a day 4 days a week or working full time 8 hours a day 5 days a week. These are slavery wages and with no assistance from the state government or federal government Georgians are currently living in poverty and struggling in their lives either single with no children, single with several children, married with no children, or married with children. I want to change that that every Georgian in the 8th Congressional District can live comfortably and take care of their responsibilities and enjoy their lives making a decent livable wage if they work a full time job in the 8th Congressional District in the State of Georgia. The cost of living has increased significantly since the 1980s and wage increases have not been given to keep up with the increase in living costs.
Economic Opportunity
Livable Wage Wage Increase Key Policy
I want to create economic opportunity for all Georgians especially the low income and middle class. Economic opportunity has been given to a select few with wealthy friends and political office holders that benefits no one but them, I want to and plan on changing that. I want to give opportunity to low income and middle class Georgians who have been left out of economic success especially African American Georgians, Latino Georgians, and Asian American Georgians. I want to create higher wages for all low income and middle class Georgia employees working in Georgia businesses. They have been making slavery wages for far too long in the state of Georgia working in Georgia businesses where they need Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to feed their families because they do not make enough money to pay their bills and feed their families. Justin Laster is proud to support and push for change throughout the community. This is a very serious issue that has been impacting alot of Georgians. It is up to Justin Laster to address this issue head on, and rally the support needed to make the proper change. Quality Education
Key Policy
I want to modernize education and the quality each student in the state of Georgia receives and is provided by moving to digital mobile tablets for students to complete their class assignments and study their courses of study for their grade curriculum. By moving to mobile assigned tablets for students, this will get rid of heavy and outdated textbooks students have to take back and forth to class and instead have a lightweight mobile tablet to complete all of their school work on from studying, reading, complete homework assignments and submit them from their mobile tablet to their assigned teachers for completion to be graded. Justin Laster is pushing for change, and is doing everything he can to ensure and deliver a better Georgia to all Georgians. Learn more and join the cause today.
Healthcare and Insurance
Key Policy
I want to create a equal healthcare system that treats every citizen equal in quality care and preventive treatments especially African American Georgians. The current healthcare system is a patient centered racist healthcare system that provides care and services differently among White Caucasian Georgians and African American Georgians and this "so called" patient centered healthcare is not patient centered, it is money centered care and depends on how much money you have that will determine the quality and treatment of care you receive. I know about this first hand not having alot of money and receiving inadequate care and treatment in a number of the state of Georgia hospitals. I want to make healthcare less expensive and cost efficient for Georgia families because the current state of Georgia healthcare system is very expensive and provides inadequate care and is terribly flawed in its design and execution of quality to Georgia families. You should not have to be rich or wealthy to receive great quality healthcare and you should not go in debt substantially to receive quality great healthcare to live your life without worry when you get ill, hurt, and sick. Getting great quality healthcare and preventive care is a right, not a privilege. I want to guarantee this right to every Georgian and their families regardless of how much money or income you make or receive. I want to make prescription drugs affordable and less expensive to Georgia families because the current cost of necessary and life saving medications are very expensive for Georgia families and no one should have to go into debt paying for necessary and life saving prescription medications that they need to survive and live an enjoyable and happy life. Justin Laster is pushing for change, and is doing everything he can to bring a better Georgia to all Georgians. Learn more and join the cause today.
Voting Rights Protections
Key Policy
I want to make it easier for African American Georgians, Latino American Georgians, and Asian American Georgians to vote and open more polling locations for Georgians to vote efficiently. I want to get rid of all the racist discriminatory voting laws enacted over the last 12 years that have been so called "voter integrity" laws. There is no voter fraud in the state of Georgia. There are racist politicians and racist people that are making it harder and more difficult for African American Georgians, Latino American Georgians, and Asian American Georgians to vote because these ethnic groups are not voting for them, so discouraging and frustrating African American Georgians, Latino American Georgians, and Asian American Georgians not to vote and fight through all the barriers put in their way just to cast their ballot will ensure the racist politicians will win reelection and hold on to power of the state of Georgia government. There were no voter identification laws from 1980 until 2010 because African American Georgians, Latino American Georgians, and Asian American Georgians were not voting in large numbers to jeopardize and vote these racist politicians out of office. It is illegal to now give food and water to voters waiting in line to vote where there are fewer polling locations to accommodate African American Georgians, Latino American Georgians, and Asian American Georgians. If you want to vote absentee or by mail, you have to request an application to vote absentee and submit a copy of your governmental identification to receive a absentee ballot and to have your absentee ballot counted, you have to send another copy of your governmental identification with your absentee ballot, these unnecessary steps to frustrate you to not bother making an effort to vote and choose your elected leaders and representatives in your state of Georgia government. Corrupt judges are allowing these racist targeted discriminatory voting laws to remain law in the state of Georgia to allow these racist politicians to stay in office and not be legally voted out of office. Your power is your vote and you cannot let anyone take this fought for right away to change your life, guarantee you a raise, guarantee you equal treatment, equal access and opportunity, equal rights, economic opportunity, and equal voting rights without discrimination. Justin Laster is truly passionate about this issue, as it is one that impacts so many people all over the state of Georgia. He hold this issue close to his heart, working day in and day out to find ways to improve voting rights. Justin Laster aims to maintain balance within the political system, and will keep pushing until the correct balance is reached.
The Environment
Clean Energy Clean Air Key Policy
I want to get every Georgian in an electric vehicle. They are energy efficient and safe for the environment. Gas prices have risen above $4 a gallon and crude oil prices have risen above $100 a barrel. Oil and gas is polluting our state, polluting and poisoning our air we breathe, and is melting the Arctic Ice and heating our state making the weather dangerous and causing damaging high winds, tornadoes, and thunderstorms. We need to use more safe energy solar, wind, and electric and get away from oil and gas which have been our addiction for almost 200 years. Justin Laster is proud to support and push for change throughout the community. This is a very serious issue that has been impacting citizens in the state of Georgia. It is up to Justin Laster to address this issue head on, and rally the support needed to make the proper change.
